Set in the stark and beautiful landscapes of Corsica, The Mohican is a gripping thriller and a sharp political discourse on gentrification, myth making and island culture.

Joseph Cardelli, brilliantly played by Alexis Manenti, is one of the last goatherds on the Corsican coastline. He is resistant to all offers for his land despite most of his neighbours giving in to property development and tourism. One day he gets a visit from the mafia and after a violent confrontation, he becomes the victim of a merciless manhunt. His niece Vannina uses social media to build him up as a resistance hero and his legend quickly grows.

"Jeanne Lapoirie’s cinematography captures the duality of Corsica’s natural beauty and its latent tension. The vast, sun-soaked coastline becomes both a sanctuary and a prison for Joseph, with the oppressive heat reflecting the mounting pressure he faces." - Martin Kudlac, Screen Anarchy
