A gripping and immersive social drama set on the streets of Paris about a Guinean asylum seeker in a race against time to stop his deportation.

The LIFF Spring Film Weekender 2025 opens with Boris Lojkine’s gripping and immersive social drama Souleymane’s Story, featuring an extraordinary, multi-award-winning lead performance from Abou Sangaré in his first screen role. Souleymane has just two days before his asylum interview to find the money for the required documents and get his story straight. He dashes through bustling Paris delivering food on his bike to earn the money as fast as he can, while trying to prepare for his interview. With a gritty street aesthetic, the tension of a pulsating thriller, and an understated humanist charm, the film presents this contemporary story from a fresh and complex perspective.

"First-time actor Abou Sangare is a revelation in Boris Lojkine's pulse-quickening portrait of an undocumented Guinean delivery biker in Paris." Jessica Kiang, Variety
