Holy Cow is an authentic, touching and rousing rural romp that follows teenager Totone and his adventures with friends, girlfriends, and competitive cheesemaking.

Louise Courvoisie's Cannes prize-winning first feature Holy Cow is set in the heart of the Jura, the French region known for its dairy cows, agricultural festivals, and Comté cheese (and it was also the setting for LIFF 2024 audience hit How to Make a Killing). For most of his carefree time, 18-year-old Totone hangs out with his gang of friends and goes to parties. But after his father’s tragic accident, Totone must now stand on his own two feet and support himself and his little sister. Spotting an opportunity, he sets out to make the best Comté cheese in the region and win the gold medal and 30,000 euros in the local competition.

"Lovingly shot in warm natural light, and accompanied by a gentle, lilting soundtrack, Holy Cow is shot through with compassion for its rascally yet vulnerable protagonist." - Lee Marshall, Screen Daily
