An intimate and emotional journey brought to life through VR.

Step into Kindred, an animated VR film that tells the remarkable true story of Syd, the first non-binary trans person to adopt a child in the UK. Through first-person narration and immersive animation, experience Syd’s journey through the adoption process—facing years of setbacks before finally being matched with Ollie, a gender-questioning child who would become their family.

A powerful and deeply personal story, Kindred explores identity, resilience and what it truly means to belong. Join us at INDIs to experience this groundbreaking VR film and see how Syd and Ollie helped redefine the meaning of family.

Tickets for this VR experience are free and available on the door. Sessions run every 30 minutes from 12:15pm with each lasting around 15 minutes. There will be a break from 2pm to 2:30pm. Please speak to a member of staff on arrival for directions to the VR experience.

This experience is in partnership with Leeds Industrial Museum. Housed in the Grade 2* listed Armley Mills, Leeds Industrial Museum tells the story of how industry made Leeds the city it is, through unique collections, engaging exhibitions, and exciting regular events.
