You’ve made a short film - now what? We’ve teamed up with Screen Yorkshire to help you figure out how to get your work in front of the people who matter.

Day two of Career Kickstarter is all about making sure your work gets seen by the right people. From navigating film festivals to creating digital campaigns, this day is packed with practical advice and insider tips.

You’ll learn how to handle distribution, market your film, and build an audience that cares about your work. With workshops, talks, and masterclasses led by industry experts, this is the perfect chance to find out how to turn your film into a success and make sure the right people see it. 

WORKSHOPS, TALKS & MASTERCLASSES

Screen Journeys with Gage Oxley: Gage Oxley shares how he turned filmmaking into a career. Get real advice on how the business works and why distribution matters if you want people to actually see your work.

Distributing Your Short Film: You’ve finished your film, now what? This session breaks down how to get it out there, from film festivals to online platforms and how to connect with the audience it deserves.

* The Power of Images: Want your film to stand out? Learn how to create posters and visuals that grab attention. Whether you’re into hands-on collages or slick digital designs, this session will show you how to make something people won’t scroll past.

* Creative Video Content for the Digital Era: Discover how to craft compelling video assets that resonate in today’s digital landscape. Learn the art of creating dynamic, shareable content that captures attention across platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Explore trends in video marketing, storytelling techniques, and how to engage your audience effectively. This session will give you the tools to elevate your digital campaigns with powerful, impactful moving images that stand out in a crowded online space.

How to Make a Pitch: Pitching is awkward until you know how to do it. Learn how to confidently share your ideas and make people care about what you’re saying, whether it’s for a project, a job, or a big opportunity.

Industry Pitching Session: Put your pitching skills to the test in front of industry guests and peers. This session gives you the chance to present your film or career idea and receive direct feedback from professionals, helping you refine your concept, improve your delivery, and gain valuable insights to take your next steps.

Workshops marked with * have limited capacity and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can book your spot upon arrival at the venue. Some workshops run simultaneously, so you’ll need to choose between them. During workshop sessions, other activities, including film screenings and VR experiences, will also be available.
