INDIs Filmmaker Network

We've teamed up with our friends at Studio 12 and Hyde Park Picture House for new and exciting networking opportunities that support and connect aspiring local filmmakers.

Whether you’re straight out of university, already working within the industry or making films on the side, these events at Hyde Park Picture House provide fun, inclusive and accessible ways to make new connections, find inspiration and watch some amazing new films.

The network events will include film screenings, presentations/talks, Q&As and discussions from established filmmakers and film industry professionals, alongside the opportunity to submit your films or pitch your own projects.

Our next event will be coming early 2025 and will be announced soon.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU

In the run up to our next event, we would love to hear from local, emerging and aspiring filmmakers about what you would like the network to be and how you would like the network to run. Also, we would like to hear from any filmmakers who would like to join a steering group to help organise and run future events. Please visit the google form here to leave your feedback and submit your interest in the steering group.

INDIS ONLINE

The INDIs Film Fest also hosts an online film community, offering a chance to chat with other filmmakers and film fans. Here you can find local updates, crew opportunities and upcoming film events.

HYDE PARK PICTURE HOUSE

The Hyde Park Picture House is one of the UK's oldest cinemas. They screen the best films from around the world and deliver inspiring projects for the communities of Leeds and beyond.

Affectionately named the 'cosiest in Leeds' following the cinema's opening 1914, the Hyde Park Picture House has remained open to this day and now screens the very best new independent films alongside family-friendly movies, classics, documentaries and artist films.

They also host a range of activity in their newly accessible heritage building – from panel discussions and Q&As, to live comedy and educational workshops – often in collaboration with organisations from across the city.

STUDIO12

Studio12 is a digital media project for people aged 16–30. It provides free access to a production studio, training, and an industry panel of creative professionals.

Run by Leeds Central Library, the space houses a fully equipped studio with a wide range of multimedia, video, photography, music equipment and software packages.

Studio12 membership allows young people to build bespoke portfolios of work that are tailor-made to the industry. We link with industry partners to ensure our young people are learning the current skills needed, and that their portfolios are in line with industry developments. Studio12 work will be showcased at live events in the city centre and to a global audience on the web.
