Leeds Young Film has opened up new applications for BFI Film Academy Short Courses in both Leeds and Bradford. This will be the 13th year we have run the Leeds programme and the 2nd year running the Bradford programme.

These courses are designed to offer young people aged 16-19 the opportunity to gain practical filmmaking skills and insights into the film industry, laying the groundwork for a future career in film. The BFI Film Academy short courses are renowned for providing hands-on experience in various aspects of filmmaking, from screenwriting and cinematography to editing and sound.

Participants will work on their own short films under the guidance of industry professionals, giving them valuable experience in the creative and technical aspects of film production. In addition to practical skills, the courses offer participants the chance to explore different career paths within the film industry. Through masterclasses and networking opportunities, students will gain insights from established filmmakers and industry experts, helping them understand the breadth of opportunities available in the world of film.

These short courses will take place in both Leeds and Bradford, making them accessible to young people from across the region. Leeds Young Film is committed to supporting the next generation of filmmakers, and these courses are an important part of that mission.
