“Ama Gloria is quite the heartbreaker as writer/director Marie Amachoukeli confidently traces the intense bond between a six year-old girl and her beloved nanny.” – Allan Hunter, Screen Daily

“A last summer of nanny-child togetherness is detailed in a debut made dazzling by an astonishingly intricate performance from its six-year-old star.” - Jessica Kiang, Variety

Six-year-old Louise Mauroy-Panzani lights up the screen in Marie Amachoukeli’s Cannes 2023 hit Àma Gloria. She plays Cléo, a French girl who is distraught when her beloved nanny Gloria has to return to her home in Cape Verde. Gloria invites Cléo to visit for the summer though her own son is resentful about the new house guest who took his mother away. The film follows Cléo’s intense new experience with warm, sensuous cinematography. A hugely affecting and personal film with a sensitive perspective on a child’s worldview and the real-world complications for carers who are economic migrants.
