Paul Giamatti stars as himself in this deliciously deadpan and sharply scripted comedy drama. Plagued by anxiety and self doubt over his interpretation of Uncle Vanya for a new production of the Chekov play Paul comes across a potential solution; a new high tech company can alleviate suffering by extracting and storing souls. Giametti decides to use their services with the intention of reinstating everything once he survives the performance but things go wrong when a soul trafficking mule borrows his soul for an ambitious but talentless Russian soap opera actress.
